Stories Through Art
As I mentioned in the About Me section, I like to tell stories about my life and include the art that accompanied those stories. At some point, I hope to have the bandwidth to allow others to share their stories too. For now these are the categories for my Stories through Art:
On the Road – Road trip stories, and the most memorable music and art from them;
Alternate Takes – Alternate takes of popular songs, or other art;
Art I Like – Just what it says;
Jackie’s Journal – Personal stories about my life, along with some poetry and stories I’ve written
Our Stories

It Never Entered My Mind – Miles Davis Quintet
This goes out to my fellow broken-hearted Americans and citizens of the world, but also to my fellow Americans who just handed a fox the keys to our hen house. I’ve been ugly crying a lot this morning, and racking my brain for the best song or other art to share to...

Sonnet for Zoe
While I knew the day would come and wrote this poem about it almost two decades ago, it still snuck up on me and threatens to do me in with its seeming suddenness. A few months back, the time came to set my bird free:O It wasn’t so much a “setting her free” scenario...

Scary Day – Scary Times!
Happy Halloween Everybody😊 Thought I should use this day to point out the fear people on both sides of the political spectrum are feeling in these days leading up to what is the most consequential election of my lifetime. Even though my site has been live a while,...

The Good, the Bad, and the Gilded
I wrote this story for one of my required Creative Writing certificate classes a few years ago. The assignment was listed on the syllabus as, Working for a Living Exercise, and it could be about a real or made-up job. It’s definitely not about the kind of jobs you’re...

My Birthday Wish – I Declare May 9 as Love Conquers All Day!
I began typing this entry with a goal to get it posted late on May 8, Mother’s Day here in the US. I wanted it to be out there when the clock struck midnight in Russia on May 9. That is my birthday, and many around the world predict Putin will use the day, which is...

Beth Hart – Tell ’em To Hold On
If an artist makes me cry, they've done their job and done it well! The feature pic for this post was taken during Beth Hart's show at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville on April 27, 2019 where aforementioned tears occurred. This lady is the the real deal...

L-Theanine for Anxiety
I’m pretty sure most people are dealing with a lot of anxiety right now - at least I know I am. I take an amino acid called L-theanine when it gets to be too much, and it really helps alleviate my racing thoughts throughout the day, and before bed. L-Theanine is an...

Nancy Griffith – Are You Tired of Me My Darlin’
So sad to hear about the passing of Nancy Griffith. All kinds of music have influenced and kept me company through good times and bad, but I think I'll always be a country girl at heart. Very sweet, but potentially very ornery! While I was raised in the hood, just up...

Neutral Milk Hotel – Aeroplane Over the Sea
This song reminds me to be humble and to recognize how fleeting our lives are in the grand scheme of things. If we can recognize that, it helps to appreciate the mystery and beauty all around us. I was really curious what the writer was writing about though, so I...

Goggle Giggles:)
Try not to laugh. Yeah, that's what I thought! This is my daughter several years ago down in Destin, FL in some ill but hilariously fitting goggles. Hope it makes you giggle:) Yes, I got her permission.
