About AVO
Amor Vincit Omnia (AVO) means Love Conquers All. It is an ideal I aspire to even when that concept seems elusive. Like now.
I purchased the original iteration of this site, AmorVincitOmnia.us, the day after our 2016 presidential election here in the USA. I had no idea what I would do with the domain, but I received a Clarion Call from the Universe, GOD (Galactical Omnipresent Divinity:), or whatever you call it, to purchase that domain. I think I knew Love, and the willingness to fight for and with it, would be needed to counter the calamity to come. Donald Trump, and many of those around him, are just downright hateful, and too damned close to taking the reins of this beautiful country, AGAIN, so I’m thinking I was right.
MISSION STATEMENT
Use Love to combat the hate and division plaguing humans by providing a positive online space where people can: Connect with others through Shared Stories that have associated Art; Access Content and Resources that support Mental Health; and Consume Content that helps Support Artists.
VISION
A place where people become more connected to their fellow humans by reading and sharing stories that have associated art. A place where those who struggle with mental health illnesses find some relief in the stories, art & resources found on the site. A place where artists are supported and can market their art and events, while keeping more of their profits so they can keep being artists, and humans can keep reaping the mental health benefits of their art. A Safe Space where the Synergy between Art and Mental Health is Nurtured. A place where Love Leads.
GOALS
- Keep Donald Trump out of the White House. This is one of the short-term goals of the site. I bought the original version of this site upon his election in 2016, so feel a duty to use it to keep him from Demolishing our Democracy. I believe he and those close to him are a threat to free speech, including this site. The short, mid and long-term goals are as follows:
- Foster Love for Each Other via an online community where ALL people can connect with their inner artist, and each other, by sharing stories that have some sort of associated art. Differing viewpoints are welcome and wanted, but hateful or inaccurate material will not be shared on the site no matter your political views;
- Foster a Love for Art by turning people onto new art and artists, and by supporting artists via the site’s Artist Portal which provides (this is in the works) an opportunity for artists to showcase and market their goods/services;
- Foster Love for Self by providing access to resources that support mental health; and
- Earn Your Trust by providing accurate, useful, entertaining content; and resources for the benefit of All
During, before, and ever since his term as President, Donald J. Trump has used hateful, inaccurate, and divisive rhetoric to sow new, and exploit existing divisions amongst our fellow humans both at home and abroad. He lied and continues to lie in an attempt to turn our country into a place where deceit, hatefulness and greed are revered more than truth, kindness, and decency.
On January 6, 2021 he stooped to a new low when he refused to accept his loss in the 2020 election and, IMO, incited a riot at the Capitol that resulted in death and chaos. He tried and succeeded in sowing doubt in American elections. After a lot of denial, and many trials at taxpayer expense no proof of election interference has been found. Except by Trump trying to use fake electors in multiple states. Gaslighting at its worst. HE TRIED TO STEAL THE VOTE PEOPLE, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!
Trump tried to steal MY vote when he urged the Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, to “find 11,000 votes.” While I lean left, and am at odds with most of what they do, I was very proud of our Republican leaders for being among the very few on the right who had the courage and competency to stand up to Donald Trump by refusing to invalidate the will of the majority of the citizens of my native state of Georgia. The following link provides both the audio and the transcript of the call. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/03/politics/trump-brad-raffensperger-phone-call-transcript/index.html
It is alarming how close he is to potentially returning to arguably the most powerful office in the world in order to perform a coup de gras on our Constitutional Republic, and maybe even more alarming how many people are still helping him. People of America, please know this: Donald Trump does not want to make America great; he wants to make America HIS to do with as he pleases. WE the people, on the right and left, can’t let that happen.
Throughout history men like Trump have often succeeded in using the Machiavellian approach to take power of a country and its people. A leader who uses lies and intimidation to control its people is NOT the America I grew up in. This is NOT Russia, North Korea, or China and I don’t want it to be. Do you? I want to vomit when I see the videos of him complimenting and kowtowing to AUTHORITARIAN LEADERS like Putin, and Kim Jong Un.
While I do understand where some folks on the right are coming from about certain things – I can’t abide their choice of a messenger. I am creating videos for the Perspectives section of this site to explain my current stances on religion, gender, and race. They are liable to rile up people on both the left and the right and that’s OK. We’ve got to talk about some important, uncomfortable things if we want to form a more perfect Union.
It seems to me Donald Trump; many of his supporters in various government and media organizations; and some of my fellow citizens want to burn America down and rebuild it in the image of Nazi Germany or Francoist Spain. I don’t want that. Do you?
Now that I’ve got a little more time on my hands, I’d really like to get back to developing the site as a means to help people grow closer, not farther apart; provide resources to those struggling with their mental health; and support artists so they can keep producing the art that helps our mental health. That, and make a living as a writer!
However, Trump’s actions prior to and after being elected; since leaving office; and now trying to return to office, are forcing me to use the site – at least temporarily – to address what he is trying to do to my country and the world at large. Especially since him getting elected in 2016 was the impetus behind my buying this site’s original domain, amorvincitomnia.us, in the first place!
From the financial and emotional havoc the pandemic reaped on most people’s lives, to the ongoing economic inequities that aren’t any one administration’s doing, to the wars in Ukraine and Palestine/Israel, so many are struggling, stressed and/or lonely. No matter who you are, I know you have stories to tell that probably have some sort of associated art.
One or more of the following are a part of many people’s lives (or ideally should be): writing, listening to music, reading, and going to movies, live theatre, and museums. I understand well the great solace, perspective, and feeling of connection they bring. AVO will use storytelling and the awesome art that is all around us to bring us closer together as a species. I will need your stories to help me do that!

About Jackie
Hello:) I’m Jackie. I live in and am from just outside of Atlanta, GA, USA. Amor Vincit Omnia is Latin for Love Conquers All, and I’ve been fond of that phrase since I found it by accident in the back of a dictionary in the “foreign phrases” section quite a long time ago.
I purchased the original iteration of this site, AmorVincitOmnia.us, the day after the 2016 presidential election here in the United States and wasn’t really sure what I was going to do with it, only that I needed to purchase the domain.
I was raised around a lot of different kinds of music, and have journaled most of my life. Being a mama, lots of road trips, volunteer work, being up close and personal with death more than once, experiencing lots of interesting relationships, and living through current times, have given me a lot to write about. Music and art have been, and continue to be, right there with me through it all. I’m going to share some of my stories and the art I associate with them, in the hope you’ll share your stories and the art that accompanied them.
I’ve never seen my country so divided, and maybe it’s naive, but I do believe in the power of love and helping others to enact change, and in the ability of storytelling, music and other arts to help us heal and connect. AVO is going to do its best to assist with that! Hearing other people’s stories and sharing my own, along with the music or other art associated with those stories – helps me feel better and not so alone. I’m hoping it will help you feel better too!
I owe a great mental health debt to artists throughout time for helping me feel more connected to the world around me and the people in it. I’m an introvert by nature, and have struggled, and still struggle at times, with some of my own depression and anxiety. There are great benefits to individuals and societies when people have access to the resources they need to address the mental health issues so many deal with, both in themselves and others. There is a clear lack of resources in this area of public health, and I believe this lack of resources compounds many other problems in society. I will use this site, in various ways, to address these shortcomings.
There have been a LOT of learning curves, stops, and starts, but AVO has morphed into a place where humans connect with each other through shared stories and art, and have access to resources that support their mental health. A place where the connection between the arts and mental health is highlighted and nurtured. A place where artists are cultivated, and have the opportunity to sell their art and/or tickets to shows/exhibits. A place where Love Conquers All.
Footnote: There are times when I doubt all of this and think, “I can’t keep putting my introvert self out there if I don’t truly and deeply believe in my ability to convey this extremely important message!” I believe it’s called imposter syndrome. Honestly, I’m still learning to engage from an authentic place of love, and often feel daunted operating under the banner of “Love Conquers All.” I feel like the Universe granted me this tool, and it’s kinda terrifying. If you have any helpful ideas or suggestions, or would like to learn about investing in the site, I’d be grateful to hear from you at jackie@avo.us. Thank you for being here!
